Need For Speed vs. Fast and Furioous

I saw the first trailer for the new Need For Speed trailer the other day and Empire Magazine were saying something that really got me thinking according to them this new film "...promises to offer a more emotional element than even the Fast and Furious films contain..."

This in my opinion is a pretty big promise and I was just thinking that there would have to be a hell of a lot of emotionality in this film to give it something that the Fast and Furious series of films hasn't got.

Anyhew...as you probably can tell from the above writtings that I am a massive fan of the 'Fast and Furious' films and am probably a little biased in my opinion of this movie so far as Need For Speed is adapted from a racing car game and Fast and Furious isn't it was purely made on the basis of the director at the time Justin Lin reading an article in the paper about street racing, but I will give it this though, that some game adapted movies that I've seen like "The Punisher",-FYI Punisher fans like me will be excited to know that I read on Collider.com the other day that as a result of the rights for both The Punisher and Daredevil lapsing over at Lionsgate and Fox Marvel have now got them back and has plans in the pipeline to make movies of them but when is anyone's guess and these movies would have to be reboots, but I really liked the last Punisher film it definitely wasn't as bad as Daredevil and although Frank Castle did wear a floor length black leather jacket it suited and I think that it didn't take anything away from how the character was supposed to look action packed unlike in Daredevil- and "Hitman"  are red dewatch really good and well written so that the film is all action packed and make you want to buy it on DVD and make you want to watch it over and over again.

Also something that will have fans like me of the Fast and Furious films screaming with excitement as it did me the other day when I first read about this on Collider.com was the studio is hoping to film a Fat and Furious 8,9 and 10, there is a guaranteed 8th instalment of these films in the pipeline already...I don't know how much more crazy ass you can get with the car stunts and chases and where else you can locate this film but I'm guessing with Jason Statham in this next film there is a whole load of crazy involved if his previous films like The Transporter, The Mechanic and Parker are anything to go by, and there is a new director on this latest one as Justin Lin has walked away and James Lin is the new director.

But this does have from the looks of this new trailer like this film is a bit tamer than Fast and Furious in terms of car chases, unbelievable stunts (which both films have) and I definitely from seeing this trailer didn't think that this was more emotional in terms of storyline than Fast and Furious movies.

The plot sounds exactly like The Fast and Furious films though,-a tale about revenge that involves a team of precision drivers and a hell of a lot of crazy ass stunts and cars like Ford Mustangs, Ford Chargers, Aston Martin (this was the bad guys car in the last Fast and Furious) etc, but this time though there seems to be a Buggati thrown into the mix- as Aaron Paul from Breaking Bad plays a street racer Tobey Marshall who goes into business with rich arrogant car supplier Dino who is played by Dominic Cooper who you may or may not have seen from Mamma Mia, but then goes onto find himself framed by Dino for the murder of a friend during a race. He wants revenge, so once out of jail Tobey signs himself up to a cross country race hosted by none other than Michael Keaton for a chance to strike back at Dino, but then Dino finds out about his plan and puts a bounty on Marshall's head, which cues the crazy ass stunts while Marshall tries to fight illegal drivers off his tail...and of course there has to be a pretty girl to play the love interest Imogen Poots who plays an exotic car dealer.

Here is the trailer for you to take a gander at:

I do realise though that this does sound like I am just killing it's buzz though and that it won't be anything on Fast and Furious as I am a huge fan of the films but I'll still go see it when this comes out at cinemas in the UK on March 14th 2014 because of the cars especially the Buggatti...who doesn't want to see a Buggatti but I'll reserve judgement until then.

Oh My God! All Bond Fans Stop What you are doing now and read this...Ernst Stavro Blofeld and SPECTRE might be back for more!

ywayI just read this on Empire's website and thought to myself  "To The Batcave!",-I know this isn't technically a James Bond phrase but you get the jist- that I had to just put this up here.

Anyhew...this news as an avid fan of  all things James Bond just made me so excited, but I've just thought that this is just another link back to the original James Bond films, as you may or may not know but many of the more recent Bond films have had scenes or things in them that hark back to these original films as in Quantum Of Solace Agent Fields was killed by Dominic Green via being soaked in oil and then draped on Bond's hotel bed like in GoldFinger where the girl was draped on Sean Connery's hotel bed soaked in gold, also there were the little quips of "Slate was a dead end" and in Sam Mendes's "Skyfall" there was the quip "he really wanted to get home" along with the story of how James Bond lost his parents in a climbing accident and that he went to Oxford and studied languages...the list of links back to the original Bond films goes on and I do realise that I have maybe gone on a bit too much here but I'm trying to say that more and more directors have already put scenes in their Bond films to try and make their films feel more like a Bond film by putting things in their James Bond films that made the original film what we ( the James Bond fans) know and love.

Previously though according to Deadline Hollywood Blofeld and SPECTRE couldn't be reused as back in 1991 when McClory who worked with creator Ian Fleming and writer Jack Whittingham on a script for Thunderball and the outcome of this was that McClory got partial copywrite for this story, but there was more legal dramas to come between Kevin McClory, MGM  and it's producers even after Thunderball was released in 1965, and in 1983 McClory used his rights to bring back Sean Connery in Never Say Never Again. In 1997 these troubles were kicked up a notch by Sony buying McClory's rights for $2million dollars with the intent of making a Bond franchise all of their own, but thankfully MGM hit back at Sony with a lawsuit and in 1999 Sony gave up this franchise idea but Kevin McClory continued with his lawsuit, but then when McClory died in 2006 his estate continued to be a never ending villain in this cat and mouse game between MGM and Danjaq (the hero's).

Anyway...the result is that MGM/Danjaq/EON have now bought all the rights held by Kevin McClory and his estate meaning that Blofeld and SPECTRE could come back in some form like Moneypenny was brought back in "Skyfall" to be Eve Moneypenny who shot Bond.

Of course there is a rather large pinch of salt had to be taken with this but saying how there how there have already been links to past Bond films put into modern day Bond films this might just might happen...fingers crossed! Anyway we'll just have to see if this does become a reality as Bond 24 which will be directed by Sam Mendes and screenplay written by John Logan is currently pencilled in to get released October 23rd 2015...oh what I can't wait that long! and all set to get released in the USA on November 6th 2015

I...Frankenstein trailer

I saw this on Empire Online and just had to put this up. I, Frankenstein the sort of retelling of the famous and world renowned story,- everyone by now must know this story by now as there's been so many films / adaptions of the book into film that have been done including the film "Van Helsing" with Kate Beckinsale and Hugh Jackman in that had Frankenstein helping them to take down Dracula-, and now that I think about it there is a bit of a connection here with Kate Beckinsale and Bill Nighy...

I say this because Kevin Grevioux who co-created Underworld who has written this along with the director Stuart Beattie have rewritten the tale as old as time story of Frankenstein's monster,-

which for people like me who are a little bit foggy on the details of the story in a nutshell-, of scientist doctor Victor Frankenstein who managed to while at university via harnessing the power of lightening he developes a secret technique to reanimate dead tissue thus creating a botched up from other people's dead bodies person but seeing how hideous it is he (Frankenstein) flees after recovering from a mental breakdown, he goes home to the news of his brother being killed and that the nanny has been hanged for it but he then sees the creature at the crime scene so assumes he's done it but doubts anyone will believe him so he retreats into the mountains where the creature catches up to him and tells him he wants him to make a woman for him and that once its done they'll retreat into South America, so he reluctantly agrees after fearing for his family and starts working on her on the Orkney Islands but starts getting dreams particularly if the creature and the female creature were to ever be together they would create a new race of beings that could plague mankind so Victor kills the female corpse, and in revenge the monster kills his childhood friend Henry Clerval where the monster makes it look as if Viktor has killed Henry so he then goes to prison, but he then suffers another mental breakdown while in prison but after being aquitted of it he then returns to his family home in Geneva with his father. Here he marries Elizabeth his childhood sweetheart, believing that the creature threatened his life he tells her to stay in her room in the house while he goes looking for the creature, but while he searches the house and grounds the creature murders Elizabeth then Viktor's father dies, Viktor then chases his creation all the way to the North Pole but doesn't kill him.

So with this in mind the movies going to be a little bit dark in theme, and with the creators of Underworld it's fair to say that the film is going to be action packed. But this time it looks like this film has given Mary Shelly's tale a modern twist as the story for this film is that Frankenstein's monster is immortal and is now called Adam played by Aaron Eckhart who you may have seen as Harvey Two Face in Batman: The Dark Knight, and he's now the focal point to a centuries old war .between powerful supernatural forces...the baddies led by Bill Nighy want to use Adam's immortality and abilities to create an army to destroy the human race, the goodies led by Miranda Otto want to save the human race.n as

But...stuck in the middle and of course the love interest for Adam is a scientist Terra played by Yvonne Stahovski who you may or may not have seen as Lady Penelope in the modern version of  The Thunderbirds film.

From what I can see of the trailer this looks like it might,- cross your fingers, hold your breath and knock on wood-, like it might be on a par with the original Underworld, which I might add is probably the best. I do have to say though that the CGI soldier at the start of this trailer is a really good effect as I thought at first that it was Pegasus coming through the roof.

But I'll just have to wait and see for January 24th 2014 to roll around to see if this film lives up to these good CGI effects, action packed trailer and Underworld writers.
