Stephen King films news updates!

You may or may not already know about this film news but as I mentioned in my last post on here I'm catching up on all things movie and music wise.

Anyhew... there seems to be some new updates on Stephen King's long gesticulating movie remake of Stephen King's "It" which seems to me like it's been rumbling on for aaaaaaages as does seem the same as the making of Stephen King's other book " The Dark Tower" series of books which last I heard Ron Howard wanted to direct this adaption,,-(to see these news updates about Stephen King's "It" please see this next blog post),- but now I see that according to Entertainment Weekly's website things have slightly changed on this front, Ron Howard is still aboard this movie adaption but as one of the producers along with Brian Grazer, Erica Huggins of Image Entertainment and Jeff Pinker as executive producer.

And also it has been reported in this same article on Entertainment Weekly's website that Nikolaj Arcel will begin adapting this series of books written by Stephen King as well as co-writing this film adaption,-Nikolaj Arcel is best know for co-writing the screenplay for the Swedish version of "The Girl With The Dragon Tatoo" which in my opinion is the better film version of this book rather than the American remake of this film, because the Swedish film adaption of this book was great on it's own and to be honest I don't really know why their was a remake of this film anyway, well saying that I do know why their was a remake firstly because I guess this was in Swedish and secondly the first film was seen by loads of people and that probably translates into a lot of money was made at the cinema as a lot of people would have bought tickets at cinemas to go and see this film when it was originally released.- along with Anders Thomas Jenson, Akiva Goldsmith (who will also be producing this film adaption with his Weed Road Company) and Jeff Pinker.

And this same article also says that Idris Elba who you may or may not recognise from the brilliantly amazing "Luther" TV series or you might just even recognise his voice from "The Jungle Book" recent remake as the voice of Shere Khan or you might even recognise his voice from "Zootopia" as the voice of Chief Bogo and music fans just might recognise him from Macklemore and Ryan Lewis' song "Dance Off" (if you haven't seen this music video yet please see below)

has been confirmed to play the gunslinger,-if you haven't read the books like me this character is called Roland Deschain who is a sort of frontier knight who's weapons of choice are a pair of revolvers who needs to get to the dark tower which stands at the nexus point of time and space in order to save his decaying world and in order to complete this journey to the dark tower he must call upon our world for help, drawing on a junkie called Eddie, an amputee called Susannah and a young boy called Jake to be part of his "ka-tet" (a term used for a group brought together by destiny), but also wanting to reach the dark tower is "the man in black"-, who according to this same Entertainment Weekly article Mathew McConaughey will play,-this character in the books is a devil who goes by many names but mostly Walter O' Dim or Walter Padick who wants to reach the dark tower in order to rule over the dark tower's seemingly infinite kingdoms.

Also according to this same Entertainment Weekly article Abbey Lee who you may or may not recognise from "Mad Max: Fury Road" is reportedly in talks to play the role of Tirana, but it's not yet known who will be cast to play the roles of the other characters.

The first film will not though adapt the plot of the first book "The Gunslinger" which was published in 1982, but what is known about this Dark Tower adaption is according to Stephen King:

" (The movie) starts in media res, in the middle of the story instead of at the beginning, which may upset some of the fans a little bit, but they'll get behind it, because it is the story"

But Nickolaj Arcel did hint about this film's plot saying that:

"A lot of it takes place in our day, in the modern world"

But also according to this same article filming for this will start in South Africa and Song Pictures has plans for this film adaption to be released in theatres on January 30th 2017.
