Finally the loooooooooooooooooong awaited "Dark Tower" adaption of Stephen Kings book news!

You may or may not have heard already but for ages now there has been news on how Ron Howard was set to direct an adaption of Stephen King's "Dark Tower" but for aaaaaaages and through lots of various different things this wasn't looking like it was ever going to be made into a film....but the other day I heard that Idris Elba had been cast as the gun slinging Roland Dechain "The Gunslinger" and Matthew McConaughey cast as his sworn enemy "Randall Flagg" a.k.a "The Man In Black" and both of these are joined in "The Dark Tower" by Tom Taylor who is cast as Jake Chambers.

Also according to ComingSoon.net's website this movie won't be a direct adaption of "The Dark Tower" series of books but more of a continuation and sort of remix of the series that will focus more on Roland's final cycle in his pursuit of "The Dark Tower" and will use elements from all the books in the series.

If you haven't read this book series it's about Roland Deschain, Mid-West's last gunslinger, who is traveling southeast across Mid-World's post-apocalyptic landscape, searching for the powerful but elusive magical edifice known as "The Dark Tower". Located in fey regions of End-World, amid a sea of singing red roses, The Dark Tower is the nexus point of the time-space continuum. It is the heart of all worlds, but it also under threat. Someone, or something is using the evil technology of The Great Old Ones to destroy it.

Nikolaj Arcel is set to direct this adaption through MRC and Sony Pictures.

The release date has been delayed though and is now pencilled in to be released July 28th 2017 (this is according to IIMDb.com the USA release date) ...which was when the new Jumanji film was thought to be released but this according to ComingSoon.net Jumaji will now be released December 22nd 2017.

Other cast members are: Abbey Lee will play Tirana, Franz Kranz will play Pimli the right hand man of Randall Flagg, Jackie Earle Haley, Katheryn Winnick and Claudia Kim.
