New Blog that you just have to read!

I've been reading in magazine's lately that there is a growing trend of wearing pj slippers as shoes...now this is a fashion trend that I think I'm going to take note of and start following because I always try to dress with comfort in mind because it might be just me but I don't see the point of putting yourself through wearing tight jeans, uncomfortably high high heels and a too tight summery looking shirt just to make yourself look very fashionable, but if your going out to have a drink or a meal with friends and because everything is sooo tight and uncomfortable you can't even properly walk down the street without grimacing, sit down without having to do it a special way so that you don't rip your jeans, or even sit down in comfort to enjoy yourself without thinking 'Oh god I can't really eat anything because if I do I'll definitely pop a button'.

And these definitely look like the pinnacle of comfortability!

But I shouldn't be soo surprised that fashion magazine have just picked up on this fashion trend as back in January I was reading what I think is the best must read blog all to do with things regarding etiquette, style and luxury living...now I know what your thinking 'etiquette, style and luxury living what has this got to do with me?', but you'd be wrong to think this as everything on this blog has got everything from handy hints on fashion, thanks to the handy Ask the Agony Uncle you'll finally be able to handle those awkward moments that arise in everyday life...talking about these kind of situations a couple of years ago I was buying a CD in my local HMV and the guy behind the cashiers desk started saying 'Oh that albums really good' I know he was being nice but what do you say, all I ended up saying was 'Thanks' and then there was that awkward silence while he was scanning the bar code for this and taking my money to pay for the CD, to what gadgets and gizmos to have.



       

Now I know these are slippers and that slippers are for being worn around the house but being me I wouldn't mind wearing these out...on one of the rarer days in England when it isn't raining! and I think that in this growing trend of celebrities like Florence from Florence and the Machines, Taylor Swift etc being seen out in slipper shoes I don't think these would look out of place.

These Rubra Pipe Slippers have quilted embroidery and do look like they would be really comfortable or if your a huge fan like me of Agatha Christie who created the best characters for her brilliant whodunnit murder mystery book like Hercule Poirot and Miss. Marple you could just get your hands on a pair of theses bad boys,- which if you haven't already noticed come in black velvet and on the left slipper there is a British bulldog and on the right shoe there is a pipe- and walk around the house and pretend that your Poirot...or you could even walk round the house and pretend that your the other greatest character created by Sir Arthur Conan Doyle Sherlock Holmes.

If your reading this and thinking this sounds a bit crazy or even a bit childish...well maybe it is but that's just me and I am not crazy I promise!

Catching Fire has been left in limbo!

As you may or may not know by now is that Gary Ross who directed 'The Hunger Games' which is amazing if you have seen this film or if you haven't yet then I'd strongly advise that you see this and here's a shameless plug from me but if you've seen 'The Hunger Games' and like the look of Jennifer Lawrence's hair then you should start using and  SACHAJUAN Professional Haircare products that were used on her hair...has pulled out of directing the sequel 'Catching Fire'.

After I saw this first film it was sooo action packed that I had to get this second book and the last one in 'The Hunger Games' series of books and I have to say that I really loved the books and I went a little crazier than usual when reading this as I ended up reading these every night all night up until 3 in the morning...this you might be thinking is insane but these books are insanely good!

Anyhew...I digress anyway the other day I was reading on Variety's website about how one of the reasons why Gary Ross has had to step down from going ahead with directing this second film because Lionsgate wanted a 19 month tight schedule to do all aspects of the film...which if your asking me from reading the book this is going to be very hard to do as you'll need to first find a hell of a lot of extra cast members, a hell of a lot of different locations to film at or even the studio might have to use some studio engineering like green screen or CGI for a lot of the different scenes, or like in some films the studio might even cut some scenes out that are in the book or even put some extra scenes in to make it a more exciting film.

But not only has there been this problem for the studio but Lionsgate has  been so far been having a very professional tug of war with Fox on who will get Jennifer Lawrence as she is locked in under contract to star in this next 'Catching Fire' with Lionsgate and she is also locked under contract to do  the 'X: Men First Class' sequel which she had already commited to do even before 'The Hunger Games' came along...so in a quite amicable turn of events Fox are going to push back the start date of when they want to shoot  'X:Men First Class' sequel in January, and let Lionsgate keep to their plans to start shooting 'Catching Fire' in the late summer so it can meet it's already set November 22nd 2013 release date...I suppose this has ended so well as neither studio want this to be drawn out taking up time and money and at the end of the day if both of these studios are stuck in negotiations to see which one gets Jennifer Lawrence before the other then neither are making any films and their just wasting each others time.

But other than this Lionsgate have to be worried now that because 'The Hunger Games' has done so well with making a shed load of money at the box office that the already contractually locked in cast members-Jenifer Lawrence, Josh Hutcherson, Liam Hemsworth and Woody Harelson- might start to ask for an increase in wages but Variety reports that although they can do this "...but their  (Lionsgate) not contractly obligated to do so...".

So whoever Lionsgate get to director this next film they need to get a wriggle on and find a director who can work with screenwriter Simon Beaufoy who's still trying to write a script for this sequel...and there is the other major problem that they need to work out even before they start doing anything on 'Catching Fire', that is this film has to be either on a par or even better than 'The Hunger Games' so that this can be another successful franchise of movies for Lionsgate which brought Summit back in January.

Reboots...seems like Hollywood can't get enough!

Back in March The Hollywood Reporter posted that Tomb Raider will be rebooted by producer Graham King's GK Films and this has a penciled in release date of sometime in 2013.

GK Films brought the feature film rights to Tomb Raider and Graham King is set to produce this along with Tim Headington...which as you can imagine begged the question will Angelina Jolie come back to the fold to pick up Laura Croft where she left off but sadly and more logically as this will be a reboot this is rumoured to be an original story.

Well I say this is more logical but I just thought that after the last Tomb Raider film where Angelina Jolie played Lara Croft and saved the world from having Pandora's box being opened which would open the world up to god knows what...that it might be quite a cool idea to do a film where audiences get to see what adventures she encountered after this...but then again this might be a bit boring and a little repetitive as the first film about Laura Croft was in this same vein.

So it might be interesting to give this reboot some of the 'X Men:First Class' treatment and start at the beginning and see what made the Lara Croft...well Lara Croft and if  the new rebooted film is anything what as GK Films  want to achieve with this reboot which is:

" to create daring new adventures for the young dynamic Lara Croft"

So this sounds like there will be a new young look to Lara Croft..but as yet there is no writer or starlet to play this new look Croft.

Another Reboot that they want to breath new life into is 'The Mummy'...I am a fan of this series of films and loved the first one and the second 'The Mummy Returns', but 'The Mummy:The Tomb Of Dragon Emperor', although I can watch this film I think it's safe for me to say that it lost a bit of its mojo here and lost all the things that made it a really watchable and enjoyable set of films, and I think it lost a bit of the plot here with just forgetting what the whole film is about, with the characters of the O'Connels just haphazedly falling into fighting mummies and everything they found was kind of found by accident as in the first film Eve wanted an adventure to find something that would show the Benbridge Scholars that she was a good enough archiologist and then she just found Brendan Frasier's character in prison and found via the same way the book of the dead but accidently read from it to accidently reawaken Imotep and then this goes on to the next film...that probably has more to say though for Stephan Sommers and Rachel Wiesz leaving to make this film on this last one.

So...the producers including Sean Daniels have decided that the co-writer of 'Promethius' Josh Spaihts is going to be the man to do the job. But it will be really interesting to see what he'll do with this...but he has said that he:

"...see it as the sort of opportunity I had with 'Promethius': to back to a franchise's roots is dark, scary source material and simultaneously open it up to an epic scale we haven't seen before"

This sounds like he's going to be putting on his thinking cap and getting to the heart of the matter and thinking what was it that made the franchise in the first place and then he'll take in some new directions that you would have never thought the franchise could go but on a big scale like 'Promethius'...so this sounds like it could give this franchise a bit of a face lift and make it very new but original.

 

The Sweeney Trailer...Exclusive First Look!

This is the exclusive trailer for 'The Sweeney' with Ben Drew (Plan B) and Ray Winstone which is released on 21st September 2012.

Ray Winstone plays a 'hardened' detective in the Flying Squad of London's Metropolitan Police Force-that's Jack Regan who if your like me and if like me your not really sure what the story is then I'll fill you in.

In the original TV series that was on during the 70's John Thaw (who played 'Morse') played the title role of Jack Regan and Denis Waterman (who has recently been in 'New Tricks'). And in this original series Regan uses methods to fight crime that is underhand and often illegal...but he still got the job done at the end of the day.

Anyhew...this story has been followed in this new film and this looks like it has been made to feel gritty and British by the way it's been filmed but now that I've seen the cast list for the film my thinking that this film has been given the same feel and look of one of my favorite film 'Snatch'...and I have to say I think that this film was one of Guy Ritchie's best. I say this as Steven Mackintosh who was in 'Lock Stock, Two Smoking Barrels' as one of the posh boys who deals drugs for Harry and that's played by Alan Ford.

So with Nick Love being one of the writers of this as well as directing this and the fact that he has done other gritty British films such as 'The Business', 'The Football Factory' etc you can guess that there's going to be a fair bit of punches thrown.

Anyhew...apart from this in the trailer you can see that along with this old fashioned themed British punch up film there looks to be like good old car chases.

This looks like everything has been kept very true to the original TV series with the car chases and the writing and directing.

So I really can't wait to see this as I love all these kinds of things in films and really looking forward to seeing the relationship with Plan B and Ray Winstone.

Halloween series is rebooting!

When I read this on Shock Till You Drop I had to admit that I thought 'Why doesn't Halloween die with dignity?'

Apparently says Shock Till You Drop:

"...Dimension is fielding interest from various companies...and Platinum Dunes just happens to be one of those contenders."

Also Shock Till You Drop reports that:

"...pitches are being fielded for a straight-up continuation of what Rob Zombie created and another reboot is being considered".

This is at the moment is just going round the rumour mill so  it might go up in smoke and lead to nothing like so many other films have in the past...but you never know if it does get pushed to the forefront and is put back into our cinemas so you could say that there is a 50/50 chance that Platinum Dunes does in fact team up with Dimension Films to make this film a reality.

But I have to say that I first saw 'Halloween H20:20 years Later' when I was 6yrs old and this as you can imagine has fucked me up no end when it comes to anything with a bit of horror, suspense or thrills in...and even then it was scary as hell and I just thought that this series of films about the psychotic serial killer Michael Myers and having his revenge on his sister played by Jamie Lee Curtis was good then and like so many films that get rebooted today it never is anything as good as the original and all you end up feeling is afterward you have gone to the cinema to watch this reboot is, 'That was awful why didn't they just leave this film alone?'

I'm thinking here Platinum Dunes own reboot of 'Nightmare on Elm Street', 'Friday the 13th', 'Beauty and the Beast', 'Gnomeo and Juliet' and I'm sure you can think of many more that I am having trouble thinking of at the moment but you get the gist that there are a lot of film versions of stories that have been made over and over and over until you could be sick if you saw another version of it into reboot that have been sooo rubbish that they thankfully have been swept under the carpet or slunk away into the dark sooo quickly that you as moviegoers and film critics quickly forget that reboot was ever made so the directors and producers can go on and make another film quickly and hopefully better so that they can if possible get awards for the new film and be better remembered for that film, but in my experience,-ie when a director or actor comes on the TV and my parents ask who that is I always find myself saying to them 'Oh that's such and such who did that awful film about this or that-.

Anyhew...I digress the point that I'm trying to make is that back in it's heyday there were all these different Halloween films that scare the bajezzes out of cinemagoers by having all these different situations with Michael Meyers in but I just get the feeling that this might just be  just a desperate attempt to make a really good reboot as the master of scary Wes Craven has already made a comeback of the 'Scream' movies that got people talking.
